Crowdfunder update

Outside, in a garden, a hand holds a book: The Marchesa, by Sarah Dunant. The cover includes a picture of Isabella d'Este. We are now halfway through our crowdfunding campaign and making progress: the publicity roster is growing, thanks to our wonderful publicist Jo Carpenter, and the physical CDs have been ordered.

First, we have a super exciting new reward iin the Crowdfunder – our lovely friend Sarah Dunant has promised signed copies of her new book, The Marchesa, a groundbreaking novel about Isabella d’Este. It’s wonderful.

We also have lots more videos for you to enjoy and share, both filmed performances and our weekly stories about the music and the history of the Biffoli-Sostegni manuscript, created specially for our crowdfunder.  These are all on our YouTube channel and I’ll be adding more every week until the campaign ends.

In week 2, I created a lightning lesson on psalms and their performance (psalmody).

In week 3, I explained the family ties that link Suor Agnoleta Biffoli, one of the manuscript’s dedicatees, to Suor Maria Celeste Galilei, a story that includes an attempted murder, an actual murder, and another … well, who knows?

This week, I delve into the story behind the Messa sopra Je le lerray, and put it into the context of the ten-month Siege of Florence (1529-1530), during which the nuns were removed from their rural convent into the plague-ridden city.

You can pledge for rewards on the crowdfunder, pre-order our album on Bandcamp, or just donate via the website. We are so grateful for your support.
