Musica Secreta and Celestial Sirens will be participating in a memorial concert for our founder and dear friend, Deborah Roberts, on 9 February 2025.  Details of the event are on the Brighton Early Music Festival website. We will perform Suor Chiara Margarita Cozzolani’s Magnificat a8, as we did on 6 October 2002, from Deborah’s own edition.

It feels right to celebrate her with a work that she loved dearly, that she performed and conducted many times in her career, that set us off on a spectacular journey of exploring convent polyphony with choirs as well as soloists, that is a text written in a woman’s voice, set by a woman, and edited by Deborah herself.

We will also be distributing Deborah’s scores and books at the event, for donations to her memorial fund.  There is a list on Google Sheets – if you are coming to the concert, or if you know someone who is, you can reserve items on the sheet and arrange for them to be collected at the concert.
