A first look at our new album, Ricordanze

A group of women in concert blacks stand around a large lectern holding two music books. A sophisticated camera on a stand is out of focus in the right foreground. They are in front of an altar in a Victorian Gothic church. The green and red altar cloth is visible, with much brass ornamentation and intricate stained glass windows in view.2024 was a year of exciting preparation, hard work, and sorrow. In January, we recorded around 100 minutes of music from the Biffoli-Sostegni manuscript, both for our new album, Ricordanze: a record of love, and as audio material for Laurie’s forthcoming publication in the Cambridge Element format, a multimedia exploration of the history and music of the Florentine  convent of San Matteo in Arcetri. In February, we appeared on BBC Radio 3 to raise awareness of our Corpore et anima project, and then in March Laurie got to work writing. And writing.  In August, we had two filming sessions in Oxford to accompany the recordings, but very soon after we lost our dear friend Deborah.

Two films are now complete from the first August session in Bartlemas Chapel. You can see them here.
