Source: Biffoli-Sostegni manuscript, Brussels, Bibliothèque du Conservatoire Royal, MS 27766; Serafino Razzi, Libro primo delle laudi spirituale (Venice: Rampazetto,1563). This score puts together three different settings (in four verses) of the same melody, all from mid-sixteenth-century Florence.

Illi laus et gloria, Deus et victoria
qui manet in saecula cum Virgine Maria.
The Word was made flesh of the Virgin Mary.
In this year\’s circle life is given to the world,
to us a little child of the Virgin Mary.
O shepherds, let your flock run!
Worship your God with the Virgin Mary.
